The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office reported that Blanca Esthela Álvarez, councilwoman of Manzanilla de la Paz, Jalisco, was strangled and had needle marks on her body. Álvarez was found dead early Friday morning inside her vehicle on a dirt road in the municipality. The state Prosecutor's Office stated that it is investigating the councilwoman's death under femicide protocols. «Through the Vice-Prosecutor's Office for Regional Investigation, an investigation file has been opened to gather evidence that will allow the identification of those responsible for these events,» they explained. The initial investigations indicate that the victim's belongings were with her and that the vehicle showed no signs of damage. They added that forensic reports also identified lesions on the victim's arms, which could have been caused by needles. The investigation continues with a full gender perspective to clarify these facts.
