Following the operation in which the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera, alias 'El Mencho', was killed, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted the strategy and work of the Mexican army. She also took the opportunity to emphasize the support the United States provided to Mexico, mainly in terms of intelligence. 'The Trump administration praises and thanks the Mexican military for their cooperation and the successful execution of this operation,' wrote the press secretary on the X platform. 'The United States provided intelligence support to the Mexican government to assist in an operation in Talpalpa, Jalisco, Mexico, in which Nemesio 'El Mencho' Oseguera Cervantes, an infamous drug lord and leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, was eliminated,' she detailed. Leavitt recalled that 'El Mencho' was a priority target for the United States, being one of the largest fentanyl traffickers to the country, which led to President Donald Trump designating the CJNG as a foreign terrorist organization. On the other hand, the Secretary of National Defense, Ricardo TreviƱo Trejo, confirmed that the participation of U.S. authorities was limited to the exchange of information to locate the drug lord. Regarding the planning and execution of the operation, President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that it was entirely carried out by the Mexican Army's Special Forces, with no intervention from the United States. 'What there is is a great exchange of information,' commented the head of state. 'All operations are carried out by federal forces; there is no participation of U.S. forces in the operation.'
