Coordinator of Morena's parliamentary majority in the Senate, Ignacio Mier, stated that the certainty of preliminary election results will be through the PREP and not as had been suggested otherwise. He mentioned that the proposal to begin district-level counting does not replace the PREP, which will remain an instrument that gives Mexicans confidence in the electoral results. A few days ago, Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed the elimination of the PREP, proposing that the count be carried out at the District Board once the elections are over. However, Mier was emphatic in stating that the PREP will remain as an instrument of electoral certainty. "The PREP stays, yes," he said. Mier also ruled out a break with the Labor Party and the Ecologist Green Party of Mexico, stating that the coalition will remain after the vote on the Electoral Reform. "We cannot imagine the Fourth Transformation without our allies," he expressed.
Mexico: PREP to Remain as Tool for Confirming Election Results
Ignacio Mier, coordinator of Morena's majority in the Senate, confirmed that the PREP will remain in the electoral reform initiative, contrary to initial announcements of its elimination. This decision aims to provide certainty to Mexicans about the election results.
