The Commission for the Oversight of the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) presented to the Plenary Session of the Chamber of Deputies a list of three candidates for the position of head of the ASF for the period 2026-2034. This decision came after the evaluation of 92 participants in the different stages of the appointment process. As part of the agreement, the Commission applied an affirmative action criterion to promote substantive equality. Faced with the possibility that the shortlist might consist only of men, the legislators determined to include at least one woman, always respecting the results of previous evaluations. The final list was composed of the following individuals:
- Aureliano Hernández Palacios
- Elizabeth Barba Villafán
- Luis Miguel Martínez Anzures
David Colmenares, the current auditor who will no longer have the option to remain in the post, did not make the final list. The agreement was passed to the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies, which will carry out the corresponding procedures. This week, the Plenary will discuss and vote on this proposal by ballot to define the person who will head the institution for the next eight years.
