Tensions between the Green Party and Morena are not ceasing. A few hours before the Chamber of Deputies attempts to approve - without a guarantee of success - the electoral reform promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum, the governor of San Luis Potosí, Ricardo Gallardo, defended the candidacy of his wife, Ruth González, to succeed him in the 2027 elections. On the other hand, the toucan forced a ban on direct family candidacies for public office successions starting in 2030, thereby allowing Ruth González's candidacy, who could succeed her husband next year. Monreal dismisses passing the electoral reform and calls an emergency session to soften the blow. This has caused strong friction in the 4T because Morena rejects this type of candidacy. In this way, the formation of an alliance between both parties is not assured in the state. In any case, as reported by LPO, the governor of San Luis Potosí, Ricardo Gallardo, fears that the leadership of Morena will break the 4T alliance and is promoting the candidacy of some of the Rodríguez sisters: both the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela, and the local president of the green party, Rita Ozalia. "When you go to a constitutional election and the people decide, it is not nepotism," he declared to the press. Senator Ruth González could be a candidate for governor for the Green Party despite being married to Ricardo Gallardo. In this context, Gallardo stated that "nepotism is when a governor or president hires his relatives, the uncle, the dad, and gets his family to work," but clarified that if there is an election in between and a sovereign decision by the citizenry, nepotism would be nullified. For example, last week, the president of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde, reiterated that the green party will not present direct family candidacies for any public office that will be at stake in 2027 and will not form alliances with structures that promote this type of ballots, that is, the Green Party in San Luis Potosí. However, the toucan remains firm on its course and has already announced that Ruth González's candidacy could proceed without major problems. "If you play a constitutional election and the people decide, it is not nepotism," he shot back. The future of San Luis Potosí is one of the most tense scenarios for the 4T due to the differences between Morena and the Green Party, which currently governs the entity. In this context, this Tuesday the current governor, Ricardo Gallardo, defended his partner's candidacy and current senator by assuring that the Green Party has its "own guidelines" and that if a candidacy is submitted to popular vote, there is no nepotism involved. On one hand, the green party is promoting a crusade against nepotism to foster the alternation of power and prevent the formation of caciques. In this way, the local leader revives the tensions that exist with Morena over the future of the entity and reaffirms the possibility that Ruth González will become the next governor of San Luis Potosí. Tension in SLP: Gallardo fears that Alcalde will nominate the Rodríguez sisters against his wife. This scenario has already caused problems within the 4T. This could create an uncertain scenario in the state and hinder the toucan's hegemony in the entity, a scenario that the governor would seek to avoid to not put his succession at risk.
