Mexican drug lord Abigael González Valencia, known as "El Cuini", was once considered by the DEA to be the richest drug trafficker in the world. González faces charges for drug trafficking, money laundering, and weapons possession. He stated that his lawyers and federal prosecutors are seeking a cooperation agreement to turn him into a protected witness and avoid a trial. Esquivel noted that following the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, anything "El Cuini" says regarding narcocorruption will be done in private. Esquivel said that narcoterrorists outside the United States are treated with a "military club", but within the country, they are treated "with kid gloves". He revealed that a Mexican journalist is working on a book that would explain why "El Cuini" was a target of interest for the U.S. government.
Iranian authorities denied that their newly elected supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is injured and warned they will treat as enemies those who protest in the streets if they believe they are acting at the behest of foreign powers.
