Former PRI senator Beatriz Paredes Rangel has denied reports that she is a presidential candidate for the 2030 elections, following the circulation on social media of an image with a falsely attributed message. The circulated image included a supposed message in which the former governor of Tlaxcala stated she would be the PRI's candidate in 2030 and asked for public support. 'I was forbidden from saying this, but I'm going to say it: I will be the PRI's candidate for 2030, to fight for the presidency of the Mexican Republic, I hope you support me, people of Mexico,' the false post read. Through her social media, Beatriz Paredes Rangel denied the message's content and confirmed it did not come from her official accounts. 'This image has been circulating with a message posted from an account in my name. The only account I have and manage on X is this one, and I clarify that what is mentioned there is absolutely false,' she commented. The situation occurred days after PRI announced its candidates for the 2027 elections, who are seeking the nomination for various governorships. In the international arena, she was Mexico's ambassador to Cuba and Brazil. Her career includes positions at all three levels of government and in the international sphere. In 1987, she was elected governor of Tlaxcala, a position she held until 1992, making her one of the first women to govern a state in the country. She also headed the national leadership of the PRI from 2007 to 2011. She also integrated the UNICEF Advisory Council and is part of the International Women's Forum and the Inter-American Dialogue.
