Mohamad Safa, Executive Director of the NGO PVA, announced the suspension of his functions at the UN. In his statement, he informed that he decided to 'suspend all my duties as PVA Main Representative at the UN,' as 'some senior officials are serving a powerful lobby and not the UN.' Safa also stated that he cannot 'in good conscience be part of or witness what is happening at a time when the UN is preparing for a possible use of nuclear weapons.' The document disseminated by Safa adds that in early 2026, 'senior officials and influential diplomats deployed a disinformation campaign' to position a supposed nuclear threat from Iran and promote a climate favorable to war. In his statement, the former representative also revealed that he had received death threats and economic sanctions, and denounced censorship in spaces linked to the UN, clarifying that it would not come from the institutional system itself, but from 'senior officials who abuse their power.'
