A total of 20 bodies were found in clandestine graves in the community of Valencia de Fuentes, in the municipality of Cortázar, Guanajuato. Initially, municipal authorities, led by Mayor Mauricio Estefanía, reported that search collectives and the Prosecutor's Office had located more than 15 bodies on a plot of land in this community, without providing further details on the number or exact locations. However, as the investigations progressed, the state Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the remains were found in various private and mountainous areas, where evidence and human remains were located in at least four different spots. In Mexico, more than 128,000 missing persons are registered, according to the registry of the Secretariat of the Interior, which collects data from the last century.
