Within the framework of the National Public Security Strategy, a total of 500 elements from the Mexican Army and the National Guard were deployed on April 7, 2026, to various municipalities in the state of Chihuahua. The transfer began at 13:20 hours from the Mexico City International Airport and the Santa Lucía Military Air Base in the State of Mexico, using five strategic and heavy transport aircraft from the Mexican Air Force. The personnel were sent to Ciudad Juárez, the state capital of Chihuahua, and Cuauhtémoc, with the objective of reinforcing the operational deployment maintained by the 5th Military Zones in the entity. According to official information, the deployment seeks to strengthen the actions carried out by the Army, the Air Force, and the National Guard to inhibit illicit activities by criminal groups present in these municipalities.
