Sheinbaum Denies Cuba Requested to Hide Aid Information

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that Mexico is transparent about the humanitarian aid sent to Cuba and has nothing to hide. She expressed pride in supporting the Cuban people, calling it the best diplomatic tradition of the country. "We are proud to support Cuba, just as we have supported Chile and California during recent wildfires, or as General Lázaro Cárdenas supported the Spanish Republic," Sheinbaum said. She clarified that the export of hydrocarbons to Cuba is part of a series of commercial rules that also applied during the previous administration of Enrique Peña Nieto. "We have nothing to hide; there has been fuel export from Mexico to Cuba for a long time, and we continue to help Cuba in many ways," she added. Sheinbaum denied that the Cuban government had requested to withhold information about the aid, calling the claim false.
