Mexico Launches School for Future Security Commanders

The Mexican government has presented the 'School for Command Staff' at the National Academy of Public Security (ANSP), an initiative to train high-level officials for different levels of government. The objective is to professionalize state and municipal police to address the factors that generate violence and to increase coordination with the Security Cabinet. Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar GarcĂa Harfuch stated that the program will include knowledge from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena), the Navy, the SSPC, the Attorney General's Office (FGR), the National Guard, and the National Intelligence Center. The first generation of 34 elements began the course on Tuesday, April 14, and will receive training for 5 weeks. The ANSP's challenge is to train future public servants to dignify police work, thereby improving the human resources within the different corporations. Elements are subjected to different trust, toxicological, and physical tests and periodic certifications to ensure that their knowledge of intelligence and other areas is used to counter organized crime.
