Mexico: Two Companies Fined for Navy Tender Breach

The Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance has sanctioned two companies for failing to comply with a tender from the Secretariat of the Navy. Companies 'Soluciones Militares Tácticas Superior, S.A. de C.V.' and 'West Armor, Inc.' were disqualified for four months and fined 236,527 pesos. The sanctions are related to the non-fulfillment of a contract to supply non-lethal anti-riot equipment for the Military Police. The contract provided for the delivery of 2.8 million tear gas cartridges, capsaicin irritant cartridges, smoke cartridges, and marking cartridges, for a total of 325 million pesos. The sanctions were published in the Official Gazette of the Federation and entered in the Directory of Sanctioned Suppliers and Contractors, which prevents the companies from participating in new government contracts. The Secretariat called on federal, state, and municipal institutions to refrain from receiving proposals or signing contracts with these companies to prevent damage to the public treasury. Existing contracts will not be affected by this measure.
