Mexican Ex-Vice Admiral Accuses Authorities of Rights Violations

Former Vice Admiral of the Mexican Navy, Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna, accused of fiscal huachicol, sent a new letter on Monday, April 13, 2026, to President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. In it, he again denounced violations in his case of 'due process'. Farías Laguna has been deprived of his liberty since September 2, 2025, under a justified preventive measure for alleged organized crime and hydrocarbon-related offenses. According to the missive, the accused requested various investigative acts through the Attorney General's Office (FGR) since November 7, 2025. However, he denounces that the Secretary of the Navy refuses to provide the required information, arguing 'threats to national security and the Mexican State'. Farías Laguna considers this argument arbitrary and states that the withholding of this information leaves him in a state of defenselessness, as the data is intended to prove and demonstrate his presumed innocence in the facts attributed to him. After more than seven months in prison and six months of complementary investigation, he accuses these actions of being dilatory tactics that violate his rights.
