
During her morning conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that the Attorney General's Office (FGR) has the autonomy to continue the investigation into the murder of the former rector of the UAS, Hector Melesio Cuén. Additionally, she insisted on the importance of the United States providing details about the capture of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada on Mexican territory. In relation to the confirmation by the FGR that the kidnapping of Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada on July 25 was a setup, Sheinbaum highlighted the decision of the Attorney General's Office of Sinaloa regarding the murder of Hector Melesio Cuén. The president stressed that it is the responsibility of the Republic’s Attorney General to follow up on the case and mentioned that they are in contact with the governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, as well as with other governors on institutional matters. Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of continuing to request information from the U.S. government about the circumstances of the capture related to the case. She highlighted that, along with the support of the Executive's institutions, relevant investigations and findings are being conducted and communicated immediately.
