Guanajuato's Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo met with President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico City to unveil a regionalized security strategy aimed at reducing crime rates in the state.


Security Strategy Launched for Guanajuato

The governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, met with the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, at the National Palace to present the regionalized security strategy for Guanajuato. In her words, the governor expressed: 'I know that what concerns us the most and should occupy us is the safety of our families, which is why today we present this strategy that we will be deploying regionally throughout the state of Guanajuato with the full support of the Federal Government.'\n\nPresent at the meeting was the Federal Security Cabinet, with whom a coordinated deployment was agreed upon in 10 regions of the entity with State Public Security Forces, SEDENA, and the National Guard. Libia highlighted: 'We agreed on a joint plan to pacify Guanajuato that we will be deploying in the state. This is a moment that will mark our relationship with the Federation, and this will reflect in results for the people regarding security.'\n\nClaudia Sheinbaum, for her part, reaffirmed the commitment to reduce crime rates in Guanajuato during her press conference at the National Palace. The President of Mexico mentioned the implementation of the Federal Security strategy in Guanajuato, detailing the 4 pillars: Addressing the causes of violence, Consolidation of the National Guard, Intelligence and Investigation, and Coordination.\n\nBefore taking office as governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise met with Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of the Federal Government. Subsequently, she held another meeting accompanied by Mauro González Martínez, Secretary of Security and Peace of Guanajuato. This was the third time Libia met in Mexico City to discuss security strategy-related topics.\n\nThe governor emphasized: 'The People’s Government will work day by day with coordinated actions between the three levels of government to recover the peace and tranquility of Guanajuato families.' In a significant aspect, both the country and Guanajuato are led by women engaging in high-level politics and dialogue.
