Morena Aims for 10 Million Members Ahead of Elections

The president of Morena, Luisa María Alcalde, along with the Secretary of Organization, Andy López Beltrán, led a meeting with representatives of the ruling party blocs in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. The main objective of the meeting was to promote party membership to reach ten million people and establish committees in various electoral sections nationwide.

In her speech, Alcalde urged the legislative groups of Morena to increase party membership from two and a half million to ten million people. Additionally, she emphasized the need to create committees in the 70 thousand electoral sections distributed across the 300 districts of the country.

The Morena party is in the preparation stage for the upcoming elections, following the victory in June. The aim is to strengthen the internal structure of the organization in view of the midterm elections in 2027, avoiding the mistakes that led to the loss of the absolute majority in 2021.

The absence of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, both from the government and the party, poses the challenge of consolidating Morena as a strong and unified political force to avoid divisions in future elections. In this context, the signing of a ten-point document is promoted, which includes principles such as rejecting nepotism and influence peddling.

The new leadership of Morena also promotes the "100 postulants" campaign, which establishes the values and ethical commitments that public servants of the party must adhere to, such as loyalty to the people and the fight against corruption. These actions seek to strengthen internal cohesion and prepare the party for the upcoming electoral challenges.
