Reform of the Federal Judiciary Generates Outrage in Mexico

The recent reform of the Judiciary in Mexico has caused great outrage among jurists, who see the impartiality and security of the judicial system threatened. The repeal of the amparo trial and the arrival of new judges could lead to a constitutional crisis.

Reform of the Federal Judiciary Generates Outrage in Mexico

The first part of the implementation of the reform to the Federal Judiciary has been completed through the lottery in the Senate, generating outrage among Mexican jurists. During 35 years of experience in federal courts, there was a perception of security in finding expert and neutral judges for the application of the law. However, the new judicial reality poses challenges, who will dare to challenge a tax credit now?

The contraction of investment due to legal insecurity seems inevitable in the short term. The repeal of the amparo trial eliminates a means of controlling the actions of authorities, allowing recipients to decide who judges. The lack of clear requirements to be a federal judge undermines our right to access effective justice.

The arrival of new judges without limitations could open the doors to authoritarianism. Who will venture to invest in a project without guarantees of payment? The way high-ranking public servants are being dismissed has been disgraceful and crude. From a modest platform, judges are thanked for their honest work in favor of Mexico.

The disregard for suspensions issued by judges poses an unimaginable constitutional crisis, plunging the country into a dark phase. Beyond ideological differences, limits of courtesy, ethics, and respect have been crossed. This undoubtedly represents a tremendous absurdity and a great paradox for the nation.
