Workers from the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sinaloa expressed their disagreement with the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR) regarding accusations of a supposed setup in the case of the murder of Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda, former rector of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa.
In a statement issued by the FGR, the State Attorney General's investigation team was pointed out as responsible for the setup in the mentioned case. The public prosecutors, investigative police, and forensic experts from Sinaloa vehemently rejected these accusations and clarified that their actions were based on an initial line of investigation provided by an eyewitness.
The workers stated that they carried out the corresponding investigative acts according to the information received from the beginning and following the established procedures. Despite the FGR requesting to take over the case after the dissemination of a letter supposedly signed by Ismael Zambada García, they were prevented from exploring that line of investigation.
They expressed their willingness to collaborate with the authorities, having attended the summons of the prosecutorial authority punctually. However, they voiced their concern about not having access to the records of the file despite appearing as defendants, in addition to lamenting the denial of a copy of the inquiry for their technical defense.
Finally, they reiterated their commitment to the Sinaloan society and to the Attorney General's Office of the State, assuring that they will continue to perform their duties honestly and professionally.
