Claudia Sheinbaum Defends Democratic Decisions Amid Media Attacks

The coordinator of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, spoke about the media and digital onslaught against President Claudia Sheinbaum, accusing it of stemming from conservatism that does not accept its defeat at the polls. He stated that Sheinbaum has acted with prudence and popular support, and that the population is ready to defend its democratic decision.

Monreal pointed out that there is no dictatorship in the country, but it is necessary to impose limits on the Judicial Branch in light of excesses and illegal attempts by this power. He explained that it is fundamental to establish limits to abuses of power to preserve the coexistence of state bodies. He announced the possible presentation of new regulatory laws as part of a package of necessary legislations following constitutional reforms.

Regarding the relationship with the Judicial Branch, Monreal admitted that it has been complex due to the reforms and statements issued in both instances. He highlighted the wear in the relationship, attributing it to the concentration of political adversaries and economic interests in the Judicial Branch that have been affected in their privileges.

The legislator also announced the development of three new regulatory laws within the framework of judicial reform, including the Judicial Career Law, the Organic Law of the Federal Judiciary, and the Law of Responsibilities. Monreal emphasized that these changes are peaceful and institutional and represent a historic opportunity to consolidate the ongoing transformation process.

In the midst of this media controversy, Monreal highlighted Sheinbaum's resilience and her ability to face the situation with intelligence and integrity. He stressed the need to defend democratic decisions and advocated for acting institutionally to safeguard the democratic process in the country.
