The Government of Mexico has decided to adapt the format of the president's morning conferences to more agile and condensed short video platforms. This transformation aims to reach a younger audience while maintaining its usual communication channels, adding TikTok to its list.
The President's conferences usually last about an hour and a half and include daily reports, questions and answers, as well as informative capsules. The new approach seeks to summarize the most relevant aspects of these conferences into short videos to attract a new segment of the population.
During the presidential campaign, the current president Claudia Sheinbaum had already shown an interest in engaging with young people through her podcast Sheinboom. In January of this year, she presented proposals to encourage youth participation in the electoral process, addressing topics of interest in a more dynamic manner.
Now, with the opening of the official Government account on TikTok, the aim is to inform teenagers and young people about government actions and also involve them in cultural, sports, and recreational activities. Claudia Sheinbaum is venturing to win over the young audience through this new platform, seeking to expand her reach and relevance in this demographic sector.
