The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City has dismantled a drug tunnel in the Santa Crucita neighborhood in Xochimilco during a raid related to drug dealing. This is a tunnel designed to facilitate the transportation and storage of drugs in the area, which poses a significant challenge for authorities in their fight against drug trafficking.
As part of a broader operation aimed at reinforcing security in the borough, various operational actions were carried out between October 16 and 26, including the execution of five search warrants in properties located in different neighborhoods. During these raids, additional doses of drugs were found, and several arrests were made, some of them involving individuals with criminal records, such as the arrest of a person for homicide.
In total, 27 people were arrested, and more than 1,300 doses of probable cocaine, 364 doses of marijuana, firearms, vehicles, and other objects related to drug trafficking were seized. Collaboration with the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City was key in these actions, which are part of the SSC's strategy to combat crime through intelligence and investigation across all boroughs of the capital.
The properties where drugs were found and arrests were made have been sealed and are under police custody while relevant investigations continue. The SSC has reaffirmed its commitment to continue working to maintain security in Mexico City and to carry out operations that dismantle criminal activities in the region.
