The University of Guadalajara (UdeG) has published the official call for the upcoming election process for the General Rectorship corresponding to the period from April 2025 to March 2031. This process is supervised by the General University Council (CGU) and its Special Electoral Commission, which have established that the registration of candidacies will take place from November 4 to 6.
To apply, interested parties must meet a series of requirements detailed in the Organic Law of the University of Guadalajara. Some of these requirements include being over 30 years old, holding Mexican nationality, having a bachelor's degree, being part of the academic staff of the university with at least three years of service, and possessing a recognized track record of honorability and academic capacity.
Candidates for the General Rectorship must obtain the support of at least 15% of the members of the CGU and present a general work program in public sessions scheduled for November 19 and 20. The election will take place on November 22 during an extraordinary session of the CGU, and to be valid, at least two-thirds of the council members must be present.
If no candidacy receives the majority of votes in the first round, additional rounds will be held, eliminating those who receive the fewest votes until a clear majority is achieved. The final result of this election will be published in The Gazette of the University of Guadalajara on November 26, 2024.
