Claudia Sheinbaum Confirms Attendance at G20 Summit

President Claudia Sheinbaum has confirmed her participation in the upcoming G20 Summit to be held in Brazil. This will be the first time Sheinbaum travels abroad as president of Mexico. Her decision to attend this summit marks a difference from her predecessor, former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who had the tradition of not participating in international summits.

Sheinbaum stated: "For me, the greatest privilege is to serve the people, it is an immense privilege and you can be assured that we will fulfill and always be up to the circumstances." Her participation in the G20 will prevent her from attending the award ceremony at the University of Berkeley in California, where she was honored with the Nobel Sustainability Trust medal this year.

The Nobel Sustainability Trust, formed by the family behind the Nobel prizes, aims to recognize outstanding contributions to sustainability worldwide. According to the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, Sheinbaum received this recognition for her significant contribution in 2024. Ebrard pointed out that the decision to attend the G20 will involve sending someone to represent her at the award ceremony.

Furthermore, due to her participation in the G20 summit, Sheinbaum announced that a meeting with entrepreneurs and the Government of Germany will be rescheduled for Wednesday, November 20. The G20 Summit brings together the world's most developed economies, such as Germany, the United States, China, Japan, Mexico, Russia, among others, as well as permanent and honorary guests. With this attendance, Sheinbaum will be able to interact with key global political leaders in Rio de Janeiro.
