Through an advertising campaign, the company presented Paola Rojas as the owner of the mezcal, which generated criticism and attacks against the journalist, as elements of the Mixe culture were used to promote it.

Amidst this situation, Paola Rojas clarified that she is not the owner of any mezcal, including Mixes, and that she did not register a brand for its commercialization. The communicator explained that her only interest was to support independent producers. In light of the controversy, she requested that the advertisement portraying her as the owner of the drink be corrected; however, this led to a scandal that harmed her image.

On the other hand, the Mixes brand was accused of misleading the public by making it seem like Paola Rojas was the owner of the mezcal when in reality she was acting as a spokesperson.
