The leader of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, admitted in an interview that he has been using private helicopters for many years in emergency or urgent situations. Monreal clarified that these trips are not funded by the treasury or the legislative chamber, but rather they are private vehicles made available to him at specific times.
The situation arose due to some images that circulated showing Monreal in a helicopter alongside Pedro Haces, a union leader affiliated with Morena. In response to the criticism, the politician stated that he has never liked to hide these types of actions and describes himself as not hypocritical.
It's important to mention that while officials and members of Morena have stopped using this type of private transportation due to the critical stance of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Monreal has maintained his use of helicopters in certain circumstances. In his own words: "Yes, it is true, I have been using vehicles like this, of a private type, from the time I was governor and afterward, from time to time."
