Urgent Call for Fiscal Reform in Mexico

The leader of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal, proposed the need for a deep fiscal reform in Mexico in the near future. He mentioned that greater distribution of wealth is needed to achieve a more equal society, which implies an additional effort on the part of those with more resources.

During his speech in the Lower House, Monreal explained that tax fraud is considered the use of machinations to evade tax obligations, and that at this moment the country needs national unity. In addition, he mentioned that there has been dialogue with various economic sectors and that actions are being taken responsibly in this regard.

On the other hand, deputies from the PRI and the PAN expressed their disagreement with Monreal's proposal, arguing that they are not in favor of imposing additional tax burdens on entrepreneurs and the most disadvantaged population. They believe it is crucial to improve tax collection without the need for a deep reform.

In the face of criticism, Monreal reaffirmed his stance in favor of a progressive tax reform that guarantees justice, equality, and equity in the Mexican tax system. However, his proposals were the subject of debate and controversy within the Finance Commission of the Legislative Palace.
