Senator Yunes Challenges PAN Expulsion

Following his expulsion from the PAN party, Senator Miguel Ángel Yunes is challenging the decision, claiming he is still affiliated with the party and seeking to retain his position. Adán Augusto López, of Morena, claims Yunes has joined their ranks, increasing their legislative majority.

Senator Yunes Challenges PAN Expulsion

Senator Adán Augusto López stated that there are 87 lawmakers in the Senate, including Miguel Ángel Yunes. However, Senator Andrea Chávez from Morena denied that Yunes was part of the party and mentioned that he currently does not belong to any parliamentary group.

Chávez highlighted that Yunes remains a senator without a parliamentary group, but he is legally fighting to retain his membership in the National Action Party. Despite having been expelled from that group, members of Morena claim that Yunes is now part of their party and allies in the Senate, thus totaling 87 legislators in favor of the 4T.

The senator questioned Yunes's expulsion, pointing out that he voted in favor of the reform to the Judiciary, unlike the PAN bench in Chihuahua which supported the reform to the National Guard. Despite the discrepancies, Yunes has announced that he will challenge his exit from the PAN, arguing that he cannot accept limitations in his legislative decisions.

The PAN has refused to listen to Yunes, considering his vote in favor of the Judiciary reform as a betrayal. Despite his rapprochement with Morena, Yunes has not confirmed whether he will officially join that party. Jorge Romero, elected national leader of the PAN, expressed confidence that Yunes will succeed in challenging his expulsion from the party, although it is still unclear whether he will seek to remain in the blue bench after the process.
