Boxer Dmitry Bivol has reportedly not received his payment for the 2022 fight against Canelo Alvarez, raising concerns about the boxing industry's transparency and finances.

Dmitry Bivol Claims Unpaid Winnings from 2022 Fight

The renowned boxing trainer, Nacho Beristáin, has generated controversy by making statements in which he mentions that current boxing leaves much to be desired, as no association truly cares about the boxers. Beristáin stated that Dmitry Bivol, a Russian fighter, recently revealed that he has not received payment for his 2022 fight.

Beristáin explained that, after the fight in question, Bivol stated he had not received his purse, attributing the delay to the military conflict in his country. However, as time passed without receiving the money, he decided to speak publicly about it, pointing out a concerning situation in the boxing world. Bivol reportedly mentioned that the purse was between 5 and 7.5 million dollars, revealing pressures for him to lose the fight, which he did not accept and emerged victorious.

The member of the International and World Boxing Hall of Fame lamented the lack of transparency in such situations, explaining that there was a confidentiality contract that prevented Bivol from speaking publicly on the matter. The possibility of a rematch in 2024 was mentioned, but commercial agreements halted such negotiations, including the search for a fight with Saúl Álvarez, better known as Canelo.

Saúl Álvarez is currently considered one of the best Mexican boxers, having demonstrated his quality in multiple fights and holding the title of undisputed champion at 168 pounds. However, Beristáin's claims about the non-payment to Bivol have raised doubts regarding the integrity of the sport. The Russian reportedly refused to let himself be defeated by Canelo in 2022, which has seemingly delayed the payment of his purse from the fight held in Las Vegas on May 7.

In summary, Nacho Beristáin's statements have called into question the transparency and ethics in the world of professional boxing, highlighting financial difficulties and contracts that affect fighters, as in the case of Dmitry Bivol.
