The International Olympic Committee has reached an agreement with TelevisaUnivisión for the audiovisual rights to the Olympic Games until 2032. This agreement includes the broadcasting of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the 2030 Winter Games in the French Alps, the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane, as well as the Youth Olympic Games during that period.
The conglomerate led by Bernado Gómez has displaced Claro, owned by Carlos Slim, which previously held the broadcasting rights for these sporting events. The contract stipulates that a minimum of 200 hours of coverage will be broadcast on free television for the different events, and it also includes the right to sublicense these rights within Mexico, as well as non-exclusive radio rights.
Thomas Bach, IOC President, celebrated this agreement stating that it guarantees extensive coverage for the Mexican public of all Olympic Games until 2032. For his part, Olek Loewenstein, president of Global Sports at TelevisaUnivisión, mentioned that their coverage of Paris 2024 was key to being selected as IOC partners and holders of broadcasts across all platforms in Mexico.
Loewenstein added: "Our commitment is to continue bringing the best Olympic coverage to every corner of our country."
