José Ramón Fernández: The Father of Sports Journalism

José Ramón Fernández is considered the father of sports journalism for having trained numerous communicators who are currently successful in various media outlets. Known as Joserra, Fernández has left a deep mark on his disciples, including David Faitelson, André Marín, and Christian Martinoli.

In an emotional meeting, Martinoli spared no praise for Fernández, whom he described as the best sports journalist in the country and the undisputed reference in the industry. Despite having shared good and difficult moments with him, Martinoli expressed his admiration and respect for Joserra's influence on his career.

However, despite his recognition, Martinoli surprised many by suggesting that it is time for Fernández to retire from the media. During an interview on the podcast ‘Así de Bolas’, the football commentator reflected on his own career and mentioned that he does not see himself working after the age of 65, adding a suggestive message for Juan Pablo Fernández, José Ramón's son, urging him to talk to his father about retirement.

Despite Martinoli's request, José Ramón Fernández remains a prominent figure in sports journalism, leaving a legacy that has impacted several generations of communicators in Mexico.
