Gignac Out for Crucial Match Against León

Tigres UANL were preparing to face León in an important match of the eighth round of the 2025 Clausura Tournament. However, they received the unfortunate news that their star and top scorer, André-Pierre Gignac, would not be available due to an injury that would prevent him from competing in optimal conditions.

Gignac underwent surgery a few weeks ago and was in the recovery process, which seemed to be going well. Despite this, the discomfort persisted and the coaching staff decided not to risk the player and give him more time to rehabilitate.

Coach Veljko Paunovic worked on tactical alternatives to cover Gignac's absence and also for the other injured players on the team. Despite the significant losses, he was confident that the team would respond in the best way in the match against León.

In a statement, it was reported that Gignac had fibrosis in the scar of his right leg, which prevented him from participating in the match. The club expressed that the decision was made based on the care and recovery of the player, prioritizing his health in the short and long term.

In statements, Paunovic explained that Gignac's injury was a consequence of the accelerated recovery process following the surgery, which had caused the current discomfort. Although he had considered the forward for the match against Cruz Azul in the previous round, they ultimately decided not to risk him.

Despite the absences due to injury, the team was confident in its ability to face the match against León and achieve a positive result. The progress of the injured players would determine their return to group training in the coming days, allowing the team to count on all its key players again.
