The Club Universidad Nacional has officially communicated the dismissal of Gustavo Lema as the team's coach. After a series of poor results that have marked the Argentine technician's performance on the bench, it was decided that Raúl Alpízar, the current director of Basic Forces of the club, will take over the first team on an interim basis.
Faced with the pressure from fans to restructure the team's project and seek the long-awaited championship, Alpízar has been appointed to coach the team and lead the next match against Guadalajara. The Club Universidad Nacional is in the process of selecting a new head coach to guide the team for the remainder of the 2025 Clausura tournament in Liga MX and in the current edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
In the club's words: "Raúl Alpízar, the current director of Basic Forces of the institution, will take charge of the first team's training. At this moment, the process is underway to choose the head coach of Pumas who will face the remainder of the 2025 Clausura tournament in Liga MX, as well as the international commitment in the current edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup."
