In the Clausura 2023, Chivas and Tigres faced each other in the final of Mexican football, repeating what happened in 2017. In that edition, Paunovic was the coach of Chivas, but then he left the position and joined Tigres. Ironically, Pizarro has once again been the one to take Paunovic's job.
