FIFA plans to announce the host of the Women's World Cup in the second quarter of 2025, with the United States as the favorite. However, South Africa is also a candidate for the African Football Confederation, highlighting its infrastructure after hosting the men's World Cup in 2010.
For their part, Mexico and the United States had considered organizing the tournament in 2027 but withdrew their bid to focus on a memorable event in the future. "We are committed to a historic Women's World Cup," said Ivar Sisniega, president of the Mexican Football Federation.
The exclusion of UEFA as a host in 2031 opens the way for Concacaf and Africa, with Mexico and the United States being the strongest contenders. If they win the bid, it would be the first time Mexico hosts a Women's World Cup, which would involve developing a competitive team from scratch, given that they did not qualify for the 2023 edition.
