Mexican driver Sergio "Checo" Pérez, Formula 1 world runner-up, will not compete in the 2025 season after terminating his contract with Red Bull due to underwhelming results. Despite the news, there is a possibility of his return to the category in 2026 with the Cadillac team.
Checo's father, Antonio Pérez Garibay, recently revealed that his son is preparing something significant that will excite Mexican fans. He confirmed that Sergio aims to be world champion and assured that he had opportunities to stay in Formula 1 in 2025 but chose to wait for a project that meets his expectations.
"What Sergio is cooking is something very big for the fans of Mexico. They will be very happy, very proud. We hope that all of this lasts for many more years," the driver's father mentioned. He emphasized that Checo wants to return to the championship to compete at the front of the grid and continue chasing his dream of being a drivers' champion.
