The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, held her weekly morning conference expressing her satisfaction with Rommel Pacheco's work at the head of CONADE. Since he took office at the end of 2024, Pacheco has sought to improve sports management and has continued investigations into the previous administration of Ana Gabriela Guevara.
In her statements, Sheinbaum praised Rommel Pacheco, highlighting his work and his closeness to the athletes, assuring that he will continue to perform excellent work at the head of CONADE. The president also mentioned that Pacheco halted a project that, in her opinion, would not result in sports benefits, thus prioritizing the acquisition of medals.
Regarding the focus on social and community sports, Sheinbaum explained that CONADE covers everything related to sports, from the school level to professional, including collaboration with sports federations.
Sheinbaum announced future sports projects, such as the National Boxing Class scheduled for April 6, 2025, in the Zócalo of Mexico City. With this initiative, the aim is to bring young people closer to sports as an alternative to distance themselves from violence and addictions. In addition to this boxing class, the president is working on organizing more events that provide development opportunities for the population.
