Carlos Slim Could Return to F1 as Sponsor

Formula 1 may soon have a Mexican presence on the track, as it has been revealed that Carlos Slim aims to become the new sponsor of a prestigious team. Telmex and Claro ended their commercial relationship with Red Bull after the departure of Sergio 'Checo' Pérez due to last year's poor results, but the tycoon's companies may return to the Grand Circus.

According to media specialized in motorsports, Carlos Slim's goal is to sponsor the Alpine team, which currently has Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan as star drivers. Although the exact amount he would contribute is still unknown, when Telmex and Claro sponsored Red Bull, they contributed 15 million dollars annually.

Regarding Checo Pérez's possible return, rumors about his comeback have emerged with the return of Mexican companies to Formula 1. Grupo Carso has supported the driver throughout his career, being a sponsor in each of the teams he has competed with. It is believed that Carlos Slim's interest in sponsoring Alpine could be to boost the career of Franco Colapinto, the team's reserve driver and one of the biggest promises in motorsport.

Despite this news, it was recently revealed that Checo Pérez is in advanced negotiations to become a driver for Cadillac, a team that will debut in the Grand Circus next year.
