Clausura 2025: Final Push for Pumas and Chivas

The Clausura 2025 is about to enter its final phase, and this weekend the 17th matchday will be played, where the last ticket for the play-in between Pumas and Chivas will be decided, both of whom have a complicated end to the season. Out of these two teams, only one will manage to reach the final phase of the competition.

At the top of the General Table of Clausura 2025 is Toluca FC as the absolute leader after Matchday 16. Chivas has had difficulties in this tournament, despite having good players. In Matchday 17, they will face Atlas, a team that no longer has chances to qualify but could complicate things for their rival.

Pumas has not been able to defeat Tigres since 2023, when they played at home. On the other hand, Chivas has gone two matches without beating Atlas, although their last victory was as visitors. Chivas is under pressure in the Clásico Tapatío and with the arrival of Efraín Juárez, they have managed to improve their performance, keeping the hope of qualifying alive.

Chivas has been very inconsistent in the tournament and will seek to remedy their poor campaign, hoping that Pumas falls in their next match. The team led by Efraín Juárez has the best chances of qualifying, as they depend on themselves; however, in the last match, they will face Tigres, who are looking for a better position in the table.

Pumas has 21 points, while Chivas is one point below, so they need to beat Atlas and hope for a slip-up from Pumas in their next game to qualify. Pumas, for its part, has had good performance throughout the semester, improving progressively.
