Cruz Azul Advances to Concacaf Champions Final

Cruz Azul secured its ticket to the grand final of the Concacaf Champions Cup by narrowly defeating Tigres in the return semifinal held at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. This situation caused controversy, as many fans claimed that La Máquina could lift an official title before Pumas at Ciudad Universitaria. Pumas have gone 14 years without winning a championship, while Cruz Azul qualified for the Concachampions final and could win the trophy in their rivals' stadium.

Amid this scenario, sports analyst Álvaro Morales strongly criticized Pumas, suggesting that they should leave their stadium to give it to Cruz Azul. "Liga MX, the Federation, and the Pumas themselves should decide once and for all that Ciudad Universitaria stadium should only have one team, and it should be the good one, in this case, Cruz Azul. Pumas should leave and let the CU stadium where they win absolutely nothing," expressed the ESPN host.

So far, Concacaf has not officially announced where the grand final of the Concacaf Champions Cup between Cruz Azul and Vancouver Whitecaps, scheduled for June 1, will be held. Although it had previously been mentioned that the game would be at a neutral venue, there is a possibility that it will ultimately be played at Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
