Evander Holyfield, a two-time world heavyweight champion in the boxing ring of the two weight categories and the promoter of Mexico in Zal Slavy Boxing, expressed his opinion about the current state of the boxing. He named Julio César Chávez as the greatest boxer in the history of Mexico, and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez — one of the modern legendary boxers, officially recognized as the best in the sport.
Holyfield pointed out that in the box participate not only professional, but also famous youtubers, that, according to him, promote a healthy sport. He also referred to the upcoming fight of the current Gervonta Davis and influencer Jake Paul, noting: "This makes me think, because this does not look professional. Such a path — a way to earn big money." He also called for a fight for legitimacy: "Now, the championships must be held with the best boxers, and not with those, who are better in graphics".
The famous new name in boxing with the past, Holyfield recalled the legendary quote of Mike Tyson, where he once said: "There is no time to rest. In my life there is no time for any nonsense." He noted that earlier the champions were forced to fight with the best rivals: "We did not choose the best — it was a test, and then it was a reward".
Holyfield also criticized the initiative of the UFC president Dana White — to create Zuffa Boxing, which should become an analogue of this organization in the box. "It is easy to talk about boxing, if you do not get involved in it," — said the famous champion, naming that the unprofitable leagues do not make sense for the trading of champions.
Finally, the famous sportsman pointed out to the promotion of Formula 1 in Mexico, where he said: "At that moment we were dedicated to 100%. We were champions."
