The Cruz Azul club has already filed the disqualification request against Adalberto 'Coco' Carrasquilla, after the Panamanian player committed a foul on their goalkeeper, the Colombian Kevin Mier, which resulted in a tibial fracture.
The injury occurred during the last match of the regular phase between Pumas de la UNAM, Carrasquilla's club, and Cruz Azul, where the Colombian goalkeeper plays. It is known that the 'cement team's' request was accompanied by a medical diagnosis stating that Kevin Mier has a fractured tibia and will be sidelined for months, as well as graphic evidence such as photographs or videos, and testimonies from professionals who shared their opinion on social networks.
This request is now in the hands of Liga MX and the Disciplinary Committee, who will evaluate the case, and the final verdict will be handed down in the coming days.
On the other hand, many Cruz Azul fans, enraged by the news of the injury, have demonstrated their frustration violently with direct death threats or threats to shoot at Carrasquilla's leg so that it has to be amputated. Additionally, they have made racist remarks about the former player of Tauro, Cartagena of Spain, and Houston Dynamo of the MLS.
These levels of digital violence have escalated to the point where a user even shared a supposed address of the player called up to the next FIFA match date by Thomas Christiansen.
According to the Liga MX regulation, in cases of conduct that threatens the integrity of the rival, the player can be disqualified from participating in any activity related to the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) for a prolonged period or for life.
On the same day of the match, Carrasquilla publicly apologized, although he assured that the foul was not intentional.
