In matchday 12 of the Apertura 2024, UNAM Pumas achieved an important 3-0 victory over Atlético San Luis at the Olímpico Universitario Stadium, thus staying in the hunt for a direct place in the Liguilla.
The game started with an even and contested play in the midfield, but as the minutes went by, the Pumas began to take control. Although in the 36th minute a goal from the university team was disallowed by VAR due to a previous handball, they managed to open the score before halftime with a finish from Chino Huerta after a pass from Robert Ergas.
In the second half, the Pumas continued to impose their game and quickly extended their lead. Guillermo Martínez scored the second goal by finishing off a cross from Ergas, and Chino Huerta completed his brace with a header after a cross from Piero Quispe.
With this victory, the Pumas are on a five-match unbeaten streak, with four wins to their name, placing them in fifth position in the table with 23 points. On the other hand, Atlético San Luis showed a different face than usual when playing at home, placing them in seventh place with 20 points.
The match ended with the felines securing the three points and strengthening their position in the table, demonstrating their dominance in both attack and defense throughout the game.
