F1 Activities Kick Off in Mexico

The days with the highest attendance at Formula 1 usually occur on Saturdays and Sundays, and it is expected that there will be a large number of spectators present at the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend. This Friday, October 25, marked the beginning of the activities with free practice sessions 1 and 2, in which Mexican driver Sergio Pérez, also known as 'Checo', participated. During the first session, Pérez placed tenth with a best time of 1:19.094, and in the second session, he finished ninth with a time of 1:18.392 in his best lap.

In both free practice sessions, 'Checo' Pérez initially placed second but lost ground to end up in the middle of the grid. Despite a promising start, he could not maintain a position in the top spots.

The 2024 Mexican Grand Prix takes place from October 25 to 27, being an important event for Pérez, who seeks to recover after an accident in the previous edition that forced him to retire from the competition. The schedule for the three days of the event includes practices and qualifying, with the race being the highlight on Sunday, October 26.

On Friday, October 25, when free practice sessions 1 and 2 were held, attendance approached a record. A total of 107,865 spectators were counted at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, who had the opportunity to witness both 'Checo' Pérez and Mexican IndyCar driver Pato O'Ward, who serves as a reserve driver for McLaren.

Since the return of Formula 1 to Mexico in 2015, there has been a constant increase in attendance at the events. In 2023, a record was set on the first day of activities with 109,245 people present, surpassing this year's figures. Despite a slight decrease in attendance compared to the previous year, there are still two days of activities ahead, with the excitement of qualifying and the race to come.
