Cruz Azul Aiming for Multiple Records in Liga MX

The Cruz Azul football team is close to breaking several records in the Apertura 2024 tournament of Liga MX. So far, the team has achieved 11 wins in the tournament, approaching the record of 13 games won held by several clubs, including Toluca, América, León, Cruz Azul, and Monterrey in previous seasons.

With four matches remaining, Cruz Azul has the chance to surpass this mark. They could also match or exceed América's record from Apertura 2002, which totaled 43 points in a league format with 20 teams. Currently, Cruz Azul has 34 points and needs to win two of the next four matches to reach 42 points and aim to equal this record, or win all matches to reach 46 points.

Additionally, Cruz Azul could establish a new record of 15 matches unbeaten in 17 rounds played, as well as try to surpass the record for goals scored in a single tournament, where Toluca currently leads with 50 goals closely followed by Cruz Azul with 32. With only four matches remaining, Cruz Azul would need to score at least 19 goals to surpass this mark.

The team led by Martín Anselmi is at the top of the table in Apertura 2024 and seeks to break records in Liga MX. Despite the defeat in the final of the Clausura 2024 tournament against América, the team has shown remarkable progress under the leadership of the Argentine coach. Cruz Azul's next challenge will be against Pumas at Ciudad Universitaria, where they will seek to extend their streak and get closer to the goals set for this season.
