Controversial Incident at Mexico GP Affects Checo Pérez

Mexican driver Sergio Pérez expressed his displeasure after an incident in the Mexican Grand Prix that cost him valuable points. Pérez stated that the collision with driver Liam Lawson ruined not only his race but also Lawson's own, as well as those of other drivers in previous races.

"It ruined my race, his... but he did the same with Fernando last race, with Franco at the end, and it’s a shame, we could have scored points," Pérez noted regarding the incident with Lawson. Despite Pérez achieving good performance and advancing to tenth place, the incident with Lawson caused damage to his car.

The clash between Pérez and Lawson occurred in turn 4, when Lawson pushed Pérez wide, causing a collision in the next turn. Although Lawson's car did not suffer significant damage, Pérez's car was affected at the floor edge and on the side pod, resulting in a loss of around 65 points of aerodynamic load for the team.

Liam Lawson apologized to Sergio Pérez for showing him the middle finger during their battle on the track. Despite maintaining his position against Lawson, Pérez experienced difficulties on the main straight and had to make modifications to his car as a consequence of the collision.

After the incident, Pérez did not hesitate to express his opinion on Lawson's actions, indicating that the English driver was blocking him and trying to sabotage his race. In turn, Lawson received criticism from Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, who pointed out that the driver was more to blame for the unnecessary collision.

Regarding this, Pérez stated: "I was upset, but it's not an excuse, I shouldn't have done it and I apologize for that." Despite the setbacks in the Mexican Grand Prix, Pérez is preparing for the next race in São Paulo, Brazil, where he will seek to regain ground in the Formula 1 season.
