In the recent Formula 1 Grand Prix, doubts have been raised about the continuation of Sergio 'Checo' Pérez with the Red Bull team due to his poor performance in the RB20, the car used by Red Bull this season. In light of these speculations, Antonio Pérez Garbay, 'Checo's' father, defended his son during an interview with journalist Javier Trejo.

During the interview, Antonio Pérez Garbay denied rumors of a possible departure of Red Bull from 'Checo' Pérez. He stated that the team is professional and focused on remaining at the top of the Formula 1 constructors' championship. Additionally, he emphasized that he trusts his son will continue with the team for the next season.

"They are doing everything possible to come back not only with 'Checo's' car but also with Max's. I believe that the restructuring of Red Bull will come at the end of the year," commented Antonio Pérez Garibay.

Hours before his father's interview, Sergio 'Checo' Pérez participated in a live Instagram broadcast. There, he spoke about the criticisms from European media and expressed his discontent with what he considers a lack of professionalism in some of those criticisms. He also mentioned his race engineer, Hugh Bird.

Antonio Pérez Garibay, in turn, demanded an apology from the media that claimed 'Checo' Pérez would retire from Formula 1 during the recent 2024 Mexican Grand Prix. In an interview with ESPN Racing, he expressed his displeasure over the incorrect information disseminated.

Regarding the current Formula 1 season, Sergio Pérez ruled out changes to his team for 2025 and assured that he and his teammate, Max Verstappen, receive equal treatment from Red Bull. Despite a string of adverse results, Pérez is currently in eighth place in the drivers' championship with 151 points, while Red Bull occupies the third position in the constructors' championship.
