Hurricane 'Otis' has left a deep mark on Mexico, impacting everyone equally, including the suppliers involved in the reconstruction. To date, 44,653 claims have been addressed with an overall damage estimate of 39,343 million pesos. A total of 25,044 million pesos have been disbursed in advances and compensations, distributed across different sectors: 46.5% for other sectors, 20.4% for hotels, 4.3% for automobiles, and 28.8% for homes.
Norma Alicia Rosas, General Director of AMIS, highlighted the importance of collaboration in the reconstruction process. Insurance companies have provided advances immediately after the emergency to start debris removal efforts. AMIS continues to work to ensure effective distribution of compensations, contributing to the reconstruction process and development of infrastructure affected by the hurricane.
A year after Hurricane 'Otis', the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS) revealed that compensations to businesses such as hotels and yachts have reached significant payment percentages. Rosas reported that nearly 90% of yachts and around 70% of hotels have received compensation. Regarding the total impact of the hurricane, 274,500 homes were reported damaged in Guerrero and 373 hotels require rehabilitation, according to data from the Secretariat of Security and Civil Protection and the National Center for Disaster Prevention. Additionally, a total of 47,627 commercial establishments were affected.
