The Mexican government is investing over 7 billion pesos in recovery efforts for families affected by Hurricane John in Guerrero and Oaxaca. Relief funds will support damaged homes and infrastructure as the emergency response concludes.

President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that the emergency in the states of Guerrero and Oaxaca, caused by Hurricane John, has concluded and now the recovery phase begins. The president highlighted that seven billion 714 million pesos were allocated to address the emergency in both entities, mainly in the affected areas.

The emergency affected 51 municipalities in Guerrero, 29 of which suffered significant impact, and 15 municipalities in Oaxaca. In Guerrero, six billion 659 million pesos were invested, while in Oaxaca the investment was one billion 55 million pesos. Supports have been provided and work continues on risk prevention and the reconstruction of the affected areas.

Ariadna Montiel, Secretary of Welfare, announced that two billion 960 million pesos will be allocated for residents of Acapulco and 358 million pesos for those affected in Oaxaca, following a census that revealed damage to 153 thousand 723 homes. Economic support will be provided to the affected, varying depending on the type of damage suffered.

"In the case of homes with total loss, 60 thousand pesos will be granted. In addition, supports of 8 thousand pesos for cleaning and amounts of 15 thousand and 35 thousand pesos depending on the level of damage suffered will be provided," Montiel detailed. Attention to affected families continues to be a priority, as well as the prevention of future floods and natural disasters.
