This Good Friday, April 3, one of the days with the highest tourist flow during Holy Week, was marked by a series of tragic and violent events in different parts of the port. Road accidents, armed assaults, and drowning deaths evidenced the risks amid the high volume of visitors, mobilizing emergency services and security forces throughout the day. During the morning, a serious accident on the Diamante Viaduct, near the Metlapil toll booth, left at least five people dead, including minors, and several injured. According to initial reports and shared videos, the crash involved a Chevrolet Tornado-type truck that collided with another vehicle, causing several occupants to be ejected. Civil Protection, Red Cross, and Fire Department teams went to the scene to assist the injured, who were taken to nearby hospitals. Hours earlier, in the tourist area of Miguel Alemán's Coastal Avenue, a man was injured inside the nightclub Tropicana during the early morning. The victim managed to get to a hospital on his own, while elements of the National Guard detained the alleged assailant, who was made available to the Federal Public Ministry. To these events was added a tragedy at Playa Mimosa, where three Chinese tourists entered the sea despite the strong waves caused by the phenomenon of ground swell. Two of them drowned, while a third was rescued alive and is receiving medical attention. Collectively, these incidents reflect a Good Friday with high tourist activity, where the large influx of visitors coincided with risky situations that resulted in a fatal toll and triggered security alerts.
